AmericaXMermaid Reader Part 3

A few days later Alfred came to visit you again.  He was holding another plastic bag that wreaked the same familiar interesting smell.  Alfred set the bag down and sat down next to your spring.

"Hello!" Alfred chirped happily.

"Hi Alfred!  What's that?" you asked pointing to the plastic bag.

"Hamburgers!" Alfred replied.

"What is a hamburger?" you asked, eyes locked on the bag.

"What's a hamburger? What's a hamburger?!?!?! How could you NOT know what a hamburger is?" he asked looking at you as if you were crazy.

You waved your tail that was sticking out of the water at him.

"Oh right, here try one!" Alfred said as he reached into the bag pulling out a packaged unidentifiable object.

You took the object and slowly unwrapped it.  Sitting in the middle of the wrapping was, well, you couldn't really describe it.  It was like a brown blob in-between two cream colored blobs.  Never before had you seen something so....interesting.  You picked it up.

"What do I do with it?" you asked.

Alfred laughed.  "You eat it" he replied.

You looked at the thing in your hands that was apparently a hamburger, then to Alfred who was watching you with hopeful eyes.  You opened your mouth and took a bite.  At first taste you started to cough.  It was reeeeally bad.  You had to fight to urge to spit it out and finally you managed to swallow it.  Alfred didn't seem to notice your disgusted facial expression though.

"Whatda think?" he asked eager to her your opinion.

"Well... I don't really like it." You answered feeling slightly bad that you didn't like it.

Alfred on the other hand looked puzzled.  He looked like he was fighting the urge to say something.

"I-I see" he said shocked.

You handed him back the hamburger and he at the whole thing in one bit.  After he finished chewing the one you handed him, he took about ten of them out of the plastic bag and started eating them one after another.

"So what do you eat then?" he asked in-between bites.

"Algae" you replied.

"That's gross" he said as he gobbled down another burger.

'Do all humans eat THAT much?' you thought as he finished his last burger.

"So what do you want to do now?" Alfred asked.

"Well there's not very much I can do" you said.  

For the first time you wished you had legs so you could do things and go places with Alfred.  But you were limited to your spring.

"Hey, can I touch your tail again?" Alfred asked out of the blue.

"Um sure" you replied bringing your tail to a position were Alfred could touch it.

"Ha Ha It feels like touching a fish!" he announced happily.

You don't know why but just his overall reaction to you having a tail and how fascinated he was with something so normal to you, was funny.  You started laughing.  Soon Alfred joined you laughing, though he wasn't quite sure why he was laughing.  Just then you thought of something devious and you smirked at the thought.  Out of nowhere you grabbed Alfred's hand and pulled him into the water with you.  He was not expecting that and landed in the water with a big splash.  A few seconds later he came to the surface.

"COOOOOLD!" He screamed.

  You just laughed partly because the water wasn't cold and partly because he looked so surprised.  Alfred turned to you then splashed you.  You splashed back and soon it turned into a splash war.  You and Alfred splashed and swam and joked for a few hours then Alfred had to leave.  Before he left you made him promise that he would come visit you again.  He agreed and left, leaving you alone again in the water.  But you didn't mind because you knew that Alfred was going to come visit you again soon.
